Veteran Language Service Provider Turns 40 McElroy Celebrates the Past and Future During International Translation Day

Google

Austin, TX (PRWEB) September 29, 2008 -- McElroy Translation, a full-service language service provider based in Austin, Texas, has reached a milestone not seen by most in the industry--forty years of profitable business. The company was founded in 1968 by its namesake, Ralph McElroy, who saw an opportunity to improve standards and institute quality controls in the translation business.

Forty years later, on International Translation Day, September 30, the company will celebrate its founder and the company's four decades of growth and innovation. The celebration will include a luncheon at The Austin Architecture Center for employees, customers and suppliers. It also includes a proclamation from the City of Austin, thanking McElroy for its involvement in the community, and a donation of $4,000 to Caritas, which will use the funds to provide food to 40 needy families.

"With this celebration, we are honoring the past and looking to the future," said Shelly Priebe, McElroy's president. "Our next forty years look as exciting as the past, with innovations in machine translation and improved processes for our suppliers and customers."

In the past forty years, McElroy maintained its status as a pioneer of the translation and localization industry, remaining in the forefront of translation management, workflow processes and project management systems.

That legacy is not lost on customers who have been loyal to McElroy for decades.

Wanda Whalen of Procter & Gamble has been working with McElroy for 33 years: "We have grown with McElroy. Their turnaround has always been very impressive and their communication is stellar. They provide an end-to-end personal touch--that is one of the reasons we have been with them for so long."

As McElroy looks to the next forty years, it continues to reinvent itself and lead the industry. McElroy is working closely with technology innovators, such as Asia Online and Clay Tablet, to improve processes and explore new technologies, such as collaborative translation and crowdsourcing.

McElroy chose to celebrate its success on International Translation Day because that is the traditional day to honor translators, the backbone of the industry. "We have very long term relationships with our translators, and we recognize their contribution to our success," said Patricia Bown, director of McElroy's project management office.

The proclamation from the Austin City Council will be presented to Priebe a few days before the festivities. It will honor the company's service to the Austin community and its economy. That service includes the company's long history of philanthropy in the Austin area and beyond. Often the company offers pro bono services or collects funds for local causes. Just in the past year, McElroy has conducted philanthropic efforts for a host of organizations, including the Austin Children's Shelter, the United Way, the Identity Theft Resource Center and the Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders.
